Perth CBD will be shutdown for two days for CHOGM 2011. If you are planning or attending a wedding on the last weekend in October 2011 in Perth, you better watch out!
What could this mean? CBD shutdown, huge traffic jams, police searches, restricted movements and of course troublemakers protesting nearby. There’s little public information available at the moment, but best to avoid the CBD and travelling altogether on that weekend.
Pre-CHOGM art and festival-type events start from Sunday 23rd October 2011.
Another impact is that the Queen’s Birthday public holiday has been shifted from Monday, 3rd October 2011 to Friday, 28th October 2011.
Fraser’s Restaurant in Kings Park has “shifted” a few weddings out of their venue to make way for a $9M refurbishment appearently paid by the government. Bad if you were one of those “shifted” weddings but possibly good if you had booked post this event (if the venue does not significantly raise pricing) or if you are planning for over 500 guests at your wedding and don’t want to settle with the Perth Convention Centre.
Josie and Faron married at the lovely chapel at Mercedes College. We covered the bridal photoshoot at Parliament House, the Blue Boatshed and then followed by Kings Park.
The reception was at the fancy Fraser’s Restaurant in Kings Park.
